The Office of Censorship has witnessed the Employment Contract signing of its first female Deputy Chief Censor Ms Ilikomau Freda Ali at the Government House on the 26th January, 2023. The Contract signing is to formalize the appointment of Ms Ali as the Deputy Chief Censor who took office in October 2021 after being appointed by the National Executive Council through the National Gazette.
Deputy Chief Censor, Ms Ali will serve a term of four years in the Office of censorship since the establishment of the office in 1989 when the Censorship Act was passed.
Governor General Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae officiated at the employment contract signing ceremony of the Senior Public Servants and Heads of Department.
The Deputy Chief Censor, Ms Ali signed her contract alongside two Senior Public Servants and Heads of Departments. They include;

  1. Mr Andrew Oaeka as Secretary for Department of Treasury for a period of four years

    The Three Senior Public Servants were formally commissioned by the National Executive Council as gazette in the National Gazette.
    The contract signing was witnessed by Secretary of Department of Personnel Management, Ms Taies Sansan.
    The Chief Censor Mr Jim Abani was also present together with the Deputy Chief Censor’s family who warm heartedly witnessed the event with the Office of Censorship staff.
