Officers attend Seminars in China

The Office of Censorship under the leadership of Mr. Steven Mala is committed to providing its officers with learning opportunities that would equip them with the skills, knowledge and mindset necessary for providing quality service to the public.

To honour this commitment, three (3) officers recently attended three-week seminars in China. The Seminars were organised by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and funded by the Chinese Government which lasted for three (3) weeks respectively.

Mr. Robroy Chicki, Acting Manager, Mass Media and Entertainment attended the Seminar on Counter Terrorism from the 1st of June to the 22nd of June in Yunnan, Kunming Province.

Mr. Chicki said the three (3) weeks seminar was very informative thus bringing in new knowledge and ideas for the seminar participants on how to address both old and new ways of terrorism issues affecting our countries and the world as a whole and what strategies are in place that can help us counter – terrorism.

Ms. Karen Gabby, Acting Manager, Awareness and Publicity attended the Seminar on Movies, Television Media and Brand Management from the 22nd of June to the 12th of July in Hunan, Changsha Province.

Ms. Gabby said that the Seminar offered lectures on China’s national conditions, Chinese achievements and experience of China’s reforms and opening – up including supportive policies from the Chinese Government to Movie and TV industry.

She adds that she has learnt a lot from the Seminar on how media plays the important role of developing a country and hope to utilise these knowledge to its full advantage.

While Mr. Richard Tabel, Acting Enforcement Officer attended the Seminar on National Security Strategy for Developing Countries from the 22nd of June to 12th of July in Tianjin Province.

Mr. Tabel shared his experiences saying that from the Seminar, it can be learnt that every country’s national security strategy determines the livelihood of its citizens.

He said that there are a lot of factors to consider but a good plan and its implementation goes a long way in safe guarding a country’s national and international interest.

Mr. Mala commended the officers during their presentation and encouraged more officers to attend similar trainings in future.
