HARMFUL COMPUTER & VIDEO GAMES 

The Chief Censor strongly urges parents to be more mindful about the content of computer & video games when purchasing them for their children’s entertainment.
Mr. Mala made these remarks after a new video & computer game shop was recently opened in Port Moresby.
He welcomed the growth in the entertainment industry but advises parents to understand the level of harmful content that some of these games contained.

Representatives from the Office of Censorship, the National Drug &Vice Squad and the Boroko District Court who were present to witness the Destruction.

The Office of Censorship, National Drug & Vice Squad (NDVS) and the Boroko District Court came together on Friday, the 20th of January 2017 at Koukou beach just outside Port Moresby for the combine destruction of court exhibits from 2016.

The Censorship Awareness Team made an invitational visit to the Police Band at Kila Police Barracks in the National Capital District (NCD) during their General Duty Refresher Workshop on the 15th of August, 2016 and conducted awareness on the enforcement roles of the office including online issues relating to the Internet, mobile phones and social media.

Over 18, 000 prohibited items from the Office of Censorship including 228kg of marijuana from the Boroko District Court were destroyed in a bonfire on Thursday, 24th March, 2016 at a location outside of NCD.

I was privileged to attend the PNG Women’s Forum held on March 1st – 3rd at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Port Moresby.

The Forum was co – hosted by the United States Embassy, the Department for Community Development and the Tribal Foundation.

Topics include advancing gender justice and economic opportunity for women and participants throughout the country were nominated to attend this forum.

Priority for participation was given to women serving in leadership roles within their own community and civil society groups, individual women leaders and women’s empowerment advocates, female business owners, emerging young leaders, up and coming public servants, and men with a strong interest in women’s empowerment and gender.
