Censorship Awareness Team visits Police

The Censorship Awareness Team made an invitational visit to the Police Band at Kila Police Barracks in the National Capital District (NCD) during their General Duty Refresher Workshop on the 15th of August, 2016 and conducted awareness on the enforcement roles of the office including online issues relating to the Internet, mobile phones and social media.

During the awareness, the police personnel were made aware of the illegal items such as the multiple DVDs, Sex Enhancement Products (SEPs) and magazines such as Cleo including online abuses such as child pornography.

They were told that as police officers, they must also understand the online dangers and the crimes so they can protect the citizens.

It was emphasised that by now, police should take a leading role in online security and work closely with Internet regulators to clamp down on illegal activities.
